Edna Mae Bennett, 75, of Independence, died Tuesday at Mercy Hospital where she was a patient.

Graveside services will be Friday at 10 a.m. in Harrisonville Cemetery one mile south of Bolton.

Friends may call at Webb & Rodrick Funeral Home from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday.

Mrs. Bennett was born Aug 22. 1928 in Independence to Walter C. and Iva (Stephens) Caldwell.

She graduated from Independence High School and worked at the air base during World War II, and later for Continental Can.

She married Donald G. Bennett in July 1945.

Mrs. Bennett worked as a machinist for WKM Industries in Missouri City, Texas, retiring after 32 years of service.

Mr. Bennett died in 1986, and she returned to Independence in 2000.

She was a member of the Church of the Brethren.

Survivors Include a son, Donald Dean Bennett, Independence, a daughter Diana Elmore, Houston, Texas; four brothers, Carl Caldwell, Dallas, Texas, Bob Caldwell, Midland, Texas, Jerry Caldwell, Neodesha., and Jim Caldwell, Independence; four sisters, Emma Bockover, lola, Elva Fowler, Independence, Patty Hoge, Oregon House, Calif., and Mary Hannigan, Hutchinson; three grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
