Floyd William Ade, 62, of rural West Lafayette, was found dead of an apparent heart attack at 4 PM Monday [Aug. 30, 1971]. State police said Ade was mowing a field near his home when he suffered the heart attack. He fell from the tractor. The tractor continued on and became stuck in a dry creek bed. Tippecanoe County coroner, Dr. William Sholty estimated death at Noon. Mr. Ade was discovered by his wife.

Mr. Ade, who resided near the Granville bridge, was born in Tippecanoe County and had been a lifelong resident. He was a graduate of Montmorenci High School. He resided in Lafayette from 1949 to 1966, and was employed at the elevator company. Prior to that he had been a farmer.

He married Edna L. Halsema on December 27, 1937, and she survives. Also surviving are a son, RIchard C. Ade of Lafayette; his mother, Mrs. Martha Ade of Lafayette; four brothers, Carl Ade, George Ade, Robert Ade, all of Lafayette, and Clarence Ade of West Lafayette; four sisters, Leona (Mrs. Claude) Pritchard, Clara (Mrs. John) Brissey, Miss Ruth Ade, all of Lafayette, and Helen (Mrs. James) Morgan of Otterbein; and three grandchildren.
