Richard C. Ade age 83, of Greenville passed away at 11:40 pm Saturday, January 1, 2022, at Village Green Healthcare Center in Greenville.
Richard was born June 24, 1938, in Lafayette, Indiana, to the late Floyd W. & Edna L. (Halsema) Ade.
Richard is survived by his wife of 64 years, Nancy L. (McCown) Ade whom he married December 23, 1957; children, Kimberly & Terry Shell, Kelly & Kevin Lennen and Michael & Cheryl Ade; grandchildren, Kyle & Meg Lennen, Ashlee & Greg Fourman, Abbie & Michael Cline, Allison & Carter Pittard, Benjamin Ade & fiancée, Whitney Phillips, Karlee Lennen and Keegan Lennnen; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Richard was an agronomist. He worked 18 years at Purdue University in the Agronomy and Plant Pathology Department before moving to Greenville, Ohio, to work at Downing Foundation Seed; and later went into seed sales. Richard was a member of Bible Fellowship Church in Greenville. Richard was a family man, good friend to many and will be forever known as a jokester.
A celebration of Richard's life will be held at 4:00 pm Thursday, January 6, 2022, at Bible Fellowship Church 7757 Greenville Celina Rd. Greenville, OH. Pastor Chris Cobb and Pastor Scott Gruber officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Benevolent Fund at Bible Fellowship Church or to the charity of choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville.
