"Levi" Leoy's wives "Mary Elizabeth ENGLISH" and "Mary E CARSON" were NOT the same person. I have repeatedly been told by Crow family members that Levi's 1st wife, Mary E. Carson Crow, died in 1870.

Levy's 2nd wife Mary Elizabeth English born 1803 is buried beside Levi and her maiden name is on her marker with her death year of 1891, age 88. The church records also show her as "Mary Elizabeth Crow". Her maiden name is on her grave stone as "Mary ENGLISH Crow".

His 1st wife "Mary E Carson" was born 1807 in NC and died before 25 July 1870 in Marietta, Cobb Co. GA and is NOT buried in the this cemetery. She is buried at Maloney Springs Cemetery, Fair Oaks, Cobb County, Georgia, near several of her children and grandchildren.

The middle name of "English" has been assumed by researchers because of the "maiden name" of "English" on Mary Elizabeth English's marker. IF! "Mary Carson's" middle name were "English" then the church record would have shown "Mary English Crow". BUT it doesn't. It shows his 2nd wife's name "Mary Elizabeth Crow" and the family put her maiden name on her stone. So she would NOT be confused with his 1st wife Mary E Carson Crow.

Levi's 9 recorded children were by his 1st wife Mary E. Carson including my relative Lucynda Adeline Crow Summerville (1844-1926) who married John F Summerville (1841-1910) .

Mary Elizabeth English Crow and Levi 'Leoy' Crow did not have children.
Mary Elizabeth English was 67 when she appeared in Levi's home in 1870. Levi's 9 recorded children were by his 1st wife Mary E. Carson including my relative Lucynda Adeline Crow Summerville (1844-1926) who married John F Summerville (1841-1910) .
Levi and his 1st wife may have had more than 9 children because they married in 1830 but the 1st recorded children were twins Nancy and James who were born in 1834. Then there was a 4-5 yr gap between the twins and Mahala. All other children are 1 to 2 years apart.
