Daughter of John Ellison Carson & Margaret Elizabeth MILLER Hunter Carson

The middle name of "English" for John Ellison Crow and his daughter "Mary E Carson Crow", 1st wife of Leoy 'Levi' Crow, has been ASSUMED by researches because of the maiden name of "English" on Mary Elizabeth ENGLISH Crow's marker that is beside Levi at OLD High Shoals Baptist Church Cemetery in Paulding Co. GA . IF! Mary E Carson's middle name was "English" then the Church record would have shown "Mary English Crow". BUT it does NOT. It shows "Mary Elizabeth Crow". The family put her maiden name of "ENGLISH" on her stone so she would NOT be confused with his 1st wife and his children's mother "Mary E Carson Crow". Which has happened anyway. If it weren't for the Church record showing her full name no one would have ever known she WAS NOT "Mary E Carson", except family like me.

Mary E Carson Crow last appeared at age 53-54 born 1806-07 in the 1860 Cobb Co. GA Census (3 to 4 years younger than her husband age 50-51 born 1809-10). The 1870 Paulding Co. Census shows Levi with his new wife Mary E. (English) Crow age 66-67 born 1803-04 showing her 4-5 yrs older than Levi age 62-63 born 1807-08 (but all other census shows him born 1809-11)making her 6-8 yrs older than Levi.. No license has been found for Levi and his 2nd wife, so they may have been "common law married". Georgia Law before January 1, 1997 was that a "man and woman living as man and wife were thus considered legally married".

Mary Elizabeth English Crow and Levi 'Leoy' Crow did not have children.

Levi's 9 recorded children were by his 1st wife Mary E. CARSON including my relative Lucynda Adeline Crow Summerville (1844-1926), who married John F Summerville (1841-1910) .

Levi and his 1st wife Mary E. CARSON may have had more than 9 children because they married in 1830 but the 1st recorded children were twins James & Nancy who were born in 1834.

Mary E Carson Crow's known 9 children were: (birth yrs approx.)
Nancy M Crow 1834–1886 twin
James Ellison Crow 1834–1907 twin
Mahala E. Crow 1839–Deceased
Frances Crow 1841–Deceased
