ROSSVILLE---Orpha Ethel Goslee, 98, died at 6:45 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, in Columbia City Nursing Home, after a lengthy illness. She had been a resident there one year.

Born Dec. 26, 1894, in Clinton Co., IN, near Rossville, she grew up in the St. John Chapel area north of Rossville, and lived in Pyrmont and 27 years in Rossville before moving to Columbia City in November 1990.

She married Joseph G. Miller on Dec. 29, 1916, and he died Feb. 7, 1928.

She married Bert Goslee on May 15, 1938. He died Aug. 30, 1945.

Mrs. Goslee was a former member of St. John's Lutheran Church and a member of Pyrmont United Methodist Church, where she was involved in church activities for 51 years. She served as lay leader many years, was the Seekers Sunday School Class teacher for 30 years, helped organize and participated with several of the musical groups in the church and was a member of the United Methodist Women for 69 years. She also was a member of Women's Christian Temperance Union, Iota sorority, a charter member of Carroll County Historical Society, and she helped organize the Clay Harmony Home Economics Club. Her hobbies included quilting, flower gardening and reading.

Surviving are a daughter, Mildred Sheets of Columbia City; a stepson, L. Dale Goslee of Lafayette; a grandson, Michael A. Remaly, and 2 great-grandchildren, Mrs. Todd (Trisha Ann) Hinen and Kelly Lynn Remaly, all of Columbia City. Her parents, Edward P. and Rosa Pantle Troxel preceded in death.

Calling 4-8 p.m. today, Bodine-Brown Funeral Home, Rossville. Service there 11 a.m. Tuesday, the Rev. Earl Kuzer officiating. Interment St. John's Cemetery.
