Eutha R. Hanks Grimes, 101, of Calhoun Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hardin, and formerly of Pleasant Hill, died Saturday, April 2, 2011, in Calhoun Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Sept. 6, 1909, in Byerton Township, Calhoun County, Illinois, a daughter of Clifford C. and Mattie McBride Hanks. She married Russell L. Grimes May 9, 1930, in Springfield, and he preceded her in death March 26, 1986.
She is survived by a daughter, Janet Grimes of Dallas, TX; two grandchildren, Laura Cerva of Dallas and Scott (Kandye) Dille of Barrington; four great-grandchildren, Anna Dille (Travis) Cobbs of Dallas, Benjamin and Grace Dillee of Barrington and Megan Thompson of Dallas; a brother, Paul Hanks of Hardin; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a sister, Eula D. Hanks.
Following her high school graduation, Mrs. Grimes taught school at Buckhorn and Pearl schools in Pike County. She was devoted to her family and many friends.
Funeral services were yesterday, at Nebo Church of Christ, conducted by Bro. Wilson Ramsey.
Burial was at Crescent Heights Cemetery in Pleasant Hill.
Memorials were suggested to Crescent Heights Cemetery Association.
Lummis Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill handled the arrangements.
