She was born on October 16, 1925 in Scott County, Virginia, the daughter of James and Captoley Baker, Sr. Gladys was married to Radford C. DeBoard on August 22, 1940 in Virginia. Gladys was a homemaker who loved quilting, canning, and taking care of her family.
Gladys is survived by her loving son James (Thelma) DeBoard, Duffield, Virginia, three grandchildren, Brad DeBoard, Brenda Perry, and Scott Perry, four great grandchildren Nicolas DeBoard, Brooke DeBoard, Kyle Perry, and Mackenzie Perry, brothers Eugene (Ilene) Baker, Big Stone Gap, Virginia, Carter (Peggy) Baker, Duffield, Virginia, and Ester Lee Baker, Kingsport, Tennessee, son-in-law Adril Perry, Portage, son-in-law Larry Pruitt, Portage, brother-in-law Edward Quillen, Portage, and other loving family and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Radford DeBoard, her daughter Virgie Delena Perry, her daughter Verna Dora Pruitt, her brother Claude Baker, her brother James Baker, Jr., her sister Marie DeLosa Quillen.
A visitation for Gladys DeBoard will be held Wednesday, February 15, 2012 from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon at Rees Funeral Home – Olson Funeral Home, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage with a funeral service following at 12:00 noon.
