Inquest held into Death of John Gruennert
JEFFERSON- An inquest into the death of John Gruennert, 51, of Hickory Lodge, will be held as soon as chemical tests are completed, it was announced today by Coroner H.N. Hunsader.
His body was found in two feet of water in the Rock River Thursday morning by a searching party consisting of Sheriff Roger Reinel, Deputy Robert Taylor and Capt Glenn Pattee. He had been missing from the lodge since December 27.
Gruennert owned the tavern in partnership with Miss Thelma Sullivan.
The son of Charles and Johanna Riess Gruennert, he was born 25 March 1905, in the town of Hebron. His marriage to Laura Bliss took place 25 November 1954.
Mr Gruennert was also employed as a farmer and mason’s helper.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs John Linde, Fort Atkinson; two half sisters, Mrs Claude Altwies, Watertown, and Mrs Christian Koch, Fort Atkinson; two half brothers, Carl Gruennert, Fort Atkinson, and Irvin Gruennert, Janesville.
The funeral will be at 2:30 pm Monday in the Royal F Hayes Funeral Home, the Rev A.W. Malin, Trinity Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in St Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery, Helenville.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-9 pm Sunday.
