James "Harold" Hayden, Sr., 72, died in his Tampa, FL, home at 2:10 PM Wednesday, July 26, 1972, following an illness of one year. Born in Stockwell, he had resided in Lafayette most of his life, moving to Tampa in 1949. He was married in 1923, at Indianapolis, to Leah Pauline Venis, who survives.

Mr. Hayden worked for Haywood Publishing Co. for 19 years, retiring in 1949. He was a member of Congress Street United Methodist Church, and F&AM Tippecanoe Lodge 492.

Surviving with his widow are a son, James H. Hayden, Jr.; a daughter, Maxine (Mrs. Darrell) Slagle, both of Lafayette; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The Body will be returned to Lafayette for services.
