William Anthony "Bill" Boeglin, Sr., 83, of Las Cruces, went home to Our Lord on Thursday morning, February 16, 2012 at La Posada Mesilla Valley Hospice of Las Cruces.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tues. (Feb.21) at St. Edward Catholic Church with Father Cyprian Uline OFM Conv., officiating.

Interment will follow in the old section of Carlsbad Cemetery with Military Honors being performed by the Carlsbad Veteran's Honor Guard.

Rosary will be at 7 p.m Mon. (Feb. 20) at the West Funeral Home Chapel.

Bill was born in Carlsbad, on November 4, 1928, to Albert and Maggie (Kircher) Boeglin. He grew up in Carlsbad running around town with his twin brother, Bob. Bill graduated from Carlsbad High in 1946. He was the manager of the high school football team. He served in United States Navy at the end of WWII and was stationed in Orange, Texas where he met Joncie Marie Killinger in April 1949. He was discharged in June 1949 and attended college at Tulane University. In March of 1951 he was recalled during the Korean War. Bill and Marie married Oct 3, 1951 in Beaumont, Texas. Bill was still in the Navy for the Korean War, so they lived in Oceanside, Calif., for a short time. When Bill was discharged they moved to Carlsbad and he went to work for the US Potash Refinery. In the early 1960's Bill went to work for the US Post Office as a letter carrier by the time he retired in the early 1980's he was a route supervisor. Bill and Marie raised six children in Carlsbad. Bill moved to Las Cruces in February of 1999 where he has lived with his oldest daughter and son-in-law. Bill was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church in Carlsbad and of Holy Cross Church in Las Cruces. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and of the Woodman of the World.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Marie, of almost 46 years, his oldest son William Anthony (Tony), Jr. and his youngest son Mark, his oldest grandson Christopher Trace Morris, his parents Albert and Maggie Boeglin and his three brothers Albert, Charles, and Robert.

Bill is survived by his daughter Patricia and her husband Steve Morris of Las Cruces, his son Bruce of Carlsbad, his daughter Pamela and her husband Michael Donofrio of Carlsbad and his son Philip of Hobbs, eleven grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Mary and brother-in-law Frank Melton of Georgetown, Texas and his sister-in-law Gerri Boeglin of Las Cruces.
