OBITUARY

The Times record, Aledo, Illinois, dated January 14, 1946

Deterline, Elmer E., 84 years, a well known resident of Keithsburg, died early Sunday morning, January 13, 1946, at Cottage Hospital in Galesburg, Ill., where he was taken New Year's day for treatment. Mr. Deterline had been in fair health for his age, until this winter.

He was born in Keithsburg, September 3, 1861, a son of William and Armina "Wickiser" Deterline. He attended Keithsburg scholls, and when he was a young man, he was associated with the late Joseph Venable, who taught him the wagon making business. His work with Mr. Venable continued for many years.

He was married in Lincoln, Nebraska on February 12, 1889 to Miss Sophie Sarah Jenne, daughter of the lates Lansing Kendall and Subimit "Ashley" Jenne. They were the parents of two daughters. Mrs. Deterline died on March 4, 1941 and one daughter died, Marian J., young, on August 8, 1896.

Mr. Deterline was in the restaurant business here for some 37 years, before retiring nearly 10 years ago. Since that time, he has resided at his home on Main Street.

Surviving are a daughter , Mrs. Frank E. (Helen) Louck of Keithsburg; one sister Mrs. Earl J. (Inez) Wycoff, also of Keithsburg. Five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. One brother, John Clyde Deterline preceded him death on November 16, 1910.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:00, from the Stuebinger Funeral Home, with Rev. George H. Wilson, pastor of the Christian Church, in charge of the services. Buriael will be made in Greenmound Cemetery, Keithsburg, Ill..
