Sanford Barber
Services were conducted Sunday from the home of Mrs. Lula Brewer, in West Point, for Sanford Barber, 43, of Lanett, who was murdered Friday night near the Providence church in Chambers county. The Rev. Harrison McMains, of Atlanta, officiated. Burial was in West Point, Johnson and Blakely in charge of arrangements.
Born in Chambers county, Mr. Barber was a veteran of World War II, and a member of the Chattahoochee Valley Post of the American Legion. Eight Legionnaires served as pallbearers.
Mr. Barber is survived by his wife; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lovick L. Barber, of Lanett; two brothers, L. G. Barber, of Akron, Ohio; A. D. Barber, U. S. Army, South Pacific; three sisters, Mrs. A. K. Adams, of Lanett; Mrs. Walter Hill, of Buffalo; and Mrs. Fanny Key, of Montgomery.
