Mrs. William C. Iliff Dies In Valparaiso; Rites Here
Mrs. William C. (Cora E.) Iliff, a former well known Rensselaer community resident and a native of Jordan township, Jasper county, who in late years made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Eleanor Ogle, of R.F.D. 4, Valparaiso, passed away there at 10:45 a.m. Sunday. She had been in declining health for a year. She was ninety-one years of age.
Mrs. Iliff was born in Jordan township June 20, 1871, the daughter of Henry I. Adams and Sophia (Beal) Adams. She attended local rural schools and was married to William C. Iliff February 24, 1891. He died in 1936. Until going to the home of her daughter in 1946 for residence, Mrs. Iliff was a lifelong resident of this community with the exception of five years when she lived in Dexter, Missouri.
Mrs. Iliff was a member of the Baptist church, and of James Ladies' Aid society of which she had been a member since 1911.
The immediate survivors are a son, Hugh Ilff, of Lafayette; a daughter, Mrs. Leo (Eleanor) Ogle, Valparaiso; two grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Connie Stephenson of Toledo, O., Mrs. Ann Sluyter of Park Rapids, Minnesota, and Mrs. Kiturah Saylor of Seattle, Washington, and a brother, Hartsell Adams, of Hammond. She was preceded in death by one son and one daughter.
The funeral services will be held from Jackson Funeral Chapel at two o'clock Wednesday with the Rev. Loran Campbell conducting the rites. Interment will be in Welsh cemetery. Friends may call at the Chapel after 3 p.m. Tuesday.
