She was united in marriage to William Oliver Franklin on April 15, 1888, who died Dec. 6, 1939. To this union eight children were born: Mrs. Nora Freeman, Mrs. Clemmie Conner, Mrs. Gertrude Thomas and Mrs. Hallie Voshall, all of Pleasant Hill, and Everett Franklin of Pittsfield. Three children died in infancy. She became a member of the Christian Church at Nebo at 1909, during the first revival meeting held there by Rev. B. G. Reavis. Mrs. Franklin has made her home with Mrs. George Thomas for the past 13 years. During that time George and Gertie, with the help of the other children did all that loving hands could do for her comfort. She had spent her entire life in this community. She was a kind and understanding mother, never tiring, never complaining, as she followed life's highway with its happiness and its sorrows. Surviving are the five children, sixteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held in the Christian Church in Pleasant Hill, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Joe Maynard of Pittsfield.
Flower girls were: Hallie Robinson, Wanda Lee Conner, Donna Jean Greenstreet, Lucille Hawkins, Eva Jane Voshall, Mildred Toumbs, Mrs. Marydelle Turnbaugh, Mrs. Harriett Booth, Mrs. Dorothy Jean Thomas and Mrs. June Springer.
Pallbearers were: Sonny Henderson, James Allen Robinson, Ralph Hawkins, Elba Schlieper, Claud Franklin and Guy Bowman. Burial was in Crescent Heights cemetery.
