Mr. Bolt was born August 25, 1936, in Floyd County, VA, one of five children born to the late Jesse Anderson Bolt, Sr. and Arlena Belle Sutphin Bolt.
Jesse served our country in the United States Army from 1958 to 1960, and then he served in the Army Reserves until 1964. He retired as a lieutenant from the Mount Airy Police Department in 1995 after 30 years of service and was a member of Shelton Church of the Brethren.
He is survived by a daughter, Nancy Bolt Pugh of Mount Airy; two grandsons, Justin Landry of Mount Airy and Brandon Landry of Ponchatoula, LA; a sister, Vera Parsons of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Bolt was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Marie Wilson Bolt; a daughter, Margaret Ann Bolt; two sisters, Hazel Bolt Yeatts and Vivian Bolt Bolt; and a brother, Edward Bolt. The funeral service will be held Thursday, September 14, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Shelton Church of the Brethren, with the Rev. Ted Turner and Chaplain Gray Shelton officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens, with military honors by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard.
