He was the husband of Esther Naomi Kauffman Smoker. Born in Leacock Township, he was a son of Barbara Augsburger Smoker, Intercourse, and the late Elmer Smoker.
Smoker was a truck driver for A. Duie Pyle, Coatesville,for 23 years, until 1982, and was employed as a truck driver by Harry Hostetter, Atglen.
He was a member of the Millwood Mennonite Church, Gap R1, where he served as a chorister for many years.
Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by two daughters: Velma J., wife of Fred Sensenig, New Holland R2, and Sheryl J., wife of Kenneth King, Atglen R1; and four grandchildren.
Seven sisters also survive: Martha A. and Esther A. Smoker both of Intercourse; Mary Ann, wife of Melvin Kauffman, Atglen R1; Ellen M., wife of Harold Ranck,Cochranville R2; Erma A., wife of Frank Kennel, Kinzers R1; Mildred A., wife of Glenn Kunkel, Ronks R1; and Rhoda J.,wife of Raymond Harnish, Oxford R1.
