David A. Maines, 70, of Woodland R.D., died Monday evening, May 31, in the Clearfield Hospital.

He was born in Bradford Township Nov. 23,1905, a son of Allan David and Rebecca A.(Rhyner) Maines. He was affiliated with the Protestant Faith and was a retired employe of the Woolrich Coal Co.

He is survived by his second wife, the former Gladys Maines and six children: Francis of Clearfield; Mrs. Willard (Betty Jane) Maines and Mrs. Leo (Rebecca) Luzier, both of Woodland RJD.; Mrs. Duaine (Mary) Miller of Drifting; Mrs. Kenneth (Avanell) Hullihen of New Millport and Tammy of Woodland R.D.

Seven step-children also survive: Burton Maines of WestDecatur R.D.; Mrs. Obe (Mary)English, Mrs. Hamer (Jean) English, Reynold and Mrs. Donald (Marsha) Hunt, all of Woodland RJ).; Mrs. Erma Hockenberry of Clearfield and Mrs. Leo (Ruth) Coble of Allport

One sister, Mrs. Alice Hubler of Clearfield, survives.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Fama Lansberry, one son, four sisters and two brothers.

Services will be held from the chapel of the Strange and Weaver Home for Funerals, Morrisdale, Thursday, June 3, at 2 p.m. The Rev. Thomas Moser will officiate and interment will be in Shiloh Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 p.m. today until the time of services.
