MILAN -- The death occurred suddenly in Milan, on July 27, 1967, of Norman A. MacDonald.
Mr. MacDonald was born in Dell on August 7, 1888, the eldest son of the late Angus J. and Mary Campbell MacDonald. In 1911 he married Katie MacDonald, at South Ryegate, Vt., who predeceased him in 1923. Five children were born of this union, three of whom survive. Ruth, Mrs. David Nicholson, Bernice, Mrs. Toivo Laurila, and Alma. His only son, Charles, predeceased him in 1949 and his daughter, Helen died in 1963.
Shortly after this marriage they returned to Milan, where Mr. MacDonald farmed and also owned and operated the Milan Creamery for many years, retiring in 1955.
In 1927 he married Miss Marion Matheson, who died in 1943.
Mr. MacDonald, a well-known resident of the community, had served on the council for many years.
Besides his family he is survived by six grandchildren and two great grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Katie Moss, two brothers, John and Kenneth, as well as many other relatives.
The funeral service, which was largely attended, was held in Bethany Presbyterian Church on July 29, Rev. Alexander Morrison, Ottawa, officiating. The twenty-third Psalm was sung, after which a portion of the Scripture was read in Gaelic.
The bearers were all old friends of the family, Leslie MacLeod, Roderick MacLeod, Angus K. MacLeod, Donald MacDonald, John MacKenzie and John Nicholson.
Interment was in Dell Cemetery.
Those from a distance attending were from Bethesda. Maryland. North Hartland. Vermont, Nipigon, Ottawa, Ont., Montreal. Sherbrooke, Lennoxviile, Cookshire, Bury, Gould, Scotstown and Megantic.
