Former Carrollton resident Mrs. Opal L. King, 98, of White Hall died at 9:10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, at the White Hall Multicare Center.

Born in Carrollton June 24, 1904, she was the daughter of John and Pearl (Black) Adcock.

Surviving are a daughter, Edith Naber of Carrollton; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; two sisters, Mary Baker and Dorothy Custer of Carrollton; and one brother, Lawrence Adcock of Carrollton.

She was preceded in death by four sisters, Alma Miller, Iva Laird, Lorraine Winters, and Margaret Adcock in infancy; and three brothers, Henry Adcock, Donald Adcock, and Frank Adcock.

A member of Believer's Baptist Church in Carrollton, Mrs. King had worked at Chapman Hotel in Carrollton, the shoe factory in Jerseyville and Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton, from which she retired.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Thursday, at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday. Burial will follow at Carrollton City Cemetery.
