Death of Mrs. Reed
Mrs. R. V. Reed, mother of Mrs. Jerry Schooling, died Sunday night. Mrs. Reed was a native of Virginia, and 85 years of age. The funeral will take place this afternoon from the residence of Jerry Schooling, and friends and acquaintances are respectfully invited to attend.

The Last Sad Rites
The funeral services of the late Mrs. Reed took place this afternoon from the house of her son-in-law, Hon. Jerry Schooling, and was largely attended by the many friends of the family. The ceremonies were conducted by the Rev. Henry Aston, Pastor of the Methodist Church, of which the deceased was for many years an exemplary member. The text preached from, selected by the deceased herself several days ago, was as follows: "For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man is as the flower of grass, the grass withereth and the flower thereof falleth away." "But the word of the Lord endureth forever, and this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you."—1st Peter, 1st chapter, 24, 25 verses.
The choir, led by Miss Eva Quaiffe as organist, and Miss May Cara and Messrs. Piouiger, Jose and Green sang in a most feeling manner, the following funeral hymns: "Ah! My heart is heavy laden" "Shall we meet beyond the river," and "Through the dark valley."
The pall bearers were W.O.H. Martin, C. A. Bragg, L.J. Flint, S.M. Jamison and H.P. Kraus. The remains were inclosed in a beautiful rosewood silver mounted casket containing a silver plate upon on which was inscribed the endearing word "Mother." The grave in the Masonic Cemetary is provided with a dressed redwood box, two inches in thickness. The floral offerings were in profusion and appropriate. A floral pillow from Joseph Dillman of Sacramento containing the word "rest" was a beautiful offering.
