Hannah VanBibber was born in Botetourt County, Virginia on November 23, 1778. She was the daughter of John and Chlorinda Standifer VanBibber. John moved his family to Kanawha County befor 1789 and became involved on the government of that county. Hannah married Goodrich Lightfoot Slaughter in Kanawha County on May 17, 1797. Hannah and Goodrich had eleven children and lived the rest of their lives in Kanawha County. Goodrich died in 1833 and Hannah died on June 28, 1858. Both were probably buried in the Donnally family plot on the Donnally homestead in Charleston. That cemetery was established in 1830, and was part of the garden of the old Donnally homestead. It was moved to the Old Circle Section of Spring Hill Cemetery in Charleston where a large memorial was erected there to the family.
