Reverend Jack Lamar Neese, beloved and admired pastor, husband, brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2012 in Jackson, Mississippi.

Jack was born to Oscar Lee and Susan Mae Bradshaw in Union, Mississippi on April 28, 1941, the youngest of seven children.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Randolph Neese and Bill Neese, and two sisters, Lessie Truhett and Bernice White, and foster daughter, Anne Marie and her son David.

He is survived by one brother, Henry Neese of Union, Mississippi, and one sister, Mary Brinson of Starr, Mississippi; his former wife of thirty-eight years, Patricia (nee Nixon) Neese Welshans; five devoted children, Johnny Neese of Raymond, Mississippi; Jackie Moody and her husband, Brooks of Clinton, Mississippi; Stephen Neese and his wife, Kathy of Nitro, West Virginia; Regina Gwathmey and her husband, Michael of Baltimore, Maryland; and Pamela Pilgrim and her husband, John of Raymond, Mississippi; nine grandchildren, Christopher, Jessica and Patricia Pohlhaus; Mary Lynne, Stephen Jr., Nathan, and Katie Neese; Marcia and Theodore Gwathmey; three great-grandchildren, Joseph, Mackenzie, and Landon; countless cousins, foster children, friends and parishioners.

Next to his family, his greatest achievement is reflected in the work he did as a pastor, preacher, and teacher. He pastored at nine churches, five of which he founded.

Jack was always very creative. He enjoyed gardening, painting, woodwork, and ceramics. He was a wonderful storyteller and family historian. His talent in both these areas is reflected in his novel, "In His Hands," and in the two family history books which he authored. He organized many large family reunions, gathering information that he shared with anyone who was interested. His efforts brought together several branches of the Neeses who had been lost to one another, and who will be ever grateful to him.
