Mary Louise Brown LAKE CITY - Mrs. Mary Louise Browder Brown, 82, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 27th, 2011 in her home after a long illness. Mrs. Brown was born in Johnsonville on April 18th, 1928. She was a daughter of the late Audry Morant Browder and the late Essie Powell Browder, and was the widow of the late William Henry Brown. Mrs. Brown was a member of Georgetown First Pentecostal Holiness Church and of Calvary Baptist Church in Lake City. She worked for many years for Andrews Bank and Trust, which later became Bank of America. She also worked for many years as a nursing assistant to Robert Quinn, MD with the Medical Clinic, and, at seventy years old, she became a substitute teacher in many of the Georgetown area schools. She was a loving and very devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who will be deeply missed and cherished by her family. The family would like to extend a heartfelt and sincere "thank-you" to Caregivers Betty Floyd, Christine Murrell, and Amy McDowell, Ascencion Hospice, Ahava Hospice, their caregivers and workers, and to Dr. Wade Lamb, MD for all the compassionate care shown Mrs. Brown and the family in their times of need. Mrs. Brown's surviving family includes her two daughters, Gale B. Robertson, of Charleston, and Debbie B. Altman, of Lake City; her two grandchildren, Justin Brown Altman and Morgan Browder Altman, both of Lake City; her brother, Horace Browder (Annette), of Manning; her four sisters, Mildred Browder-Hughes, of Johnsonville, Willa B. Altman, of Durham, North Carolina, Erma B. Owens, of Pleasant Hill, and Lois B. Cox, of Hemingway; her sister-in-law, Mary B. Hughes, of Murrells Inlet; and her special friends, Steve Wilkerson, of Charleston, Danielle Suggs, of Florence, and Jason James, of Florence. Mrs. Brown is preceded in death by her sister, Shelia Browder Parker; and her brother, C. Verel Powell. Funeral services for Mrs. Brown will be held at eleven o'clock a.m., Tuesday, March 1st, 2011 in the Brockington Funeral Home Chapel. A private burial for Mrs. Brown will be held in the Garden of Devotion in Johnsonville. The family of Mrs. Brown will have visitation immediately following the Chapel Service in the Calvary Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Memorials may be made to Ahava Hospice, 1303 West Evans Street, Florence, South Carolina 29501. Brockington Funeral Home, Lake City, is in charge.
