She was born June 26, 1925 in Panguitch, Utah to Henry George Excell and Ane Marie Henrie. Graduated from Panguitch High School.
She married Clair Mortensen on June 14, 1968 and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on November 26, 1975.
Marie served many years as an ordinance worker in the Jordan River Temple and held many other church positions. She will be remembered for her love of life and outgoing personality. She always had an upbeat attitude and willingness to help others.
Marie is survived by her children Tanya and Eric Chandler, and DeAne and Robert Kelly; son-in-law, Shirl Tanner; Michelle and Lennis Tanner, and Howard LeslieVeater, eighteen grandchildren, forty-two great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clair, nine siblings, her daughter Lois Tanner, and her grandson Gary Allen Lewis.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2012 in the Westland Seventh Ward Chapel, 7115 South 3200 West. Family and friends may call on Friday, February 3, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South), and Saturday from 11:00-11:45 a.m. at the church. We welcome all family and friends to attend.
Burial will follow in the Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
