Cremation rites will be accorded and no services are planned. A private inurnment will be at a future date in Maple Grove Cemetery, Farmer City. Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Farmer City, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Dorothy was born Sept. 19, 1918, on the family farm west of Farmer City, to Sherman and Ruth Sparrow Ready. She married James D. West on Sept. 1, 1937, in Indiana. He passed away Feb. 6, 2004. She married Levi Murphey on Sept. 30, 1954, in Springfield. He passed away Feb. 5, 1997.
Survivors include two sons, John (Mary) West and Philip J. (Audrey) West; four grandchildren, Deborah (Bart) Robinson, Barbara (Todd) Burns, Thomas (Crispina) West and Philip (Lisa) West and nine great-grandchildren, Cody Robinson, Iain Burns, Jessica Robinson, Addison Burns, Mary West, Abigail West, Payton Burns, Lucy West and Joseph West.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She attended Parnell country school and Moore Township High School, Farmer City.
Dorothy and Levi built and ran the Corn Bowl Bowling Lanes in Farmer City from 1958 to 1973.
Dorothy enjoyed her family, animals, gardening, canning, cooking and the outdoors.
An extended thank-you to LeRoy Manor administration and staff for all the wonderful care they provided and to Dr. Castrovillo, Farmer City, for all his companion and care.
