Mr. Murphey was born January 4, 1923 at Farmer City, s/o Earl C. and Imogene Swigart Murphey. He married Dorothy West on September 30, 1954 at Springfield. She survives; also surviving are a brother, Joe of Farmer City; and two sisters: Mary Malinda Evans, Clinton and Harriet Hanna of Wheat Ridge CO.
Mr. Murphey owned and operated the Corn Bowl Bowling Alley in Farmer City from 1958 to 1973. He served on the DeWitt County Board and was supervisor of Santa Anna Township. He was a member of the United Methodist Church; member of FC Masonic Lodge; member of DeWitt County Museum Association and Farmer City Genealogical and Historical Society. He also had belonged to Kenilworth Lodge 60 for more than 50 years and the Knights of Pythias.
