Ray Douglas Fikes, 77, of Rosebud, died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012, in a Temple hospital. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, at Powers Chapel Cemetery near Rosebud with Larry Boone officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud.

Ray was born in Rosebud, Texas, to the late Onnie and Edith Northcut Fikes. He attended Rosebud schools and entered the U.S. Navy in 1956. He married Patricia "Patsy" Smith on Aug. 10, 1956. Ray worked on the farm and was a truck driver for Rosebud Feed & Grain, Rainbow Bread, and Central Freight Lines, from which he retired. His favorite pastimes were raising cattle and watching sports on TV.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy; brothers, Elby, Troy, Garland, and Larry Fikes; and sisters, Faye Looney and Inez Wiese.

He is survived by his daughters, Donna Kuklies and husband, Trent, of Waco, Kathy Thornton and husband, Jimmy, of Westphalia, and Edith Fikes, of Lewisville; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Lela Mae Stribling, of Arlington, LaVerne Vittek, of Belton, Diane Yount, of Winnsboro, and Grace Luedke, of Frisco; and many other family members and friends.
