LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held Friday, January 25, 2012 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Melancon Funeral Home, Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro, LA for Mr. Allen Albarado, 75, who passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at his residence in Lafayette.

The family requested that visitation be observed on Thursday, January 26, 2012 from 12:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Friday, January 27, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. at Melancon Funeral Home on Thursday, January 26, 2012.

Allen, a native of Lafayette, was born on May 5, 1937. He married his loving wife of 56 years, Vergie Huval Albardo. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who enjoyed spending time with his family. Allen worked as a heavy equipment operator for 40 years. He served 8 years in the National Guard and 1 year as a medic in the United States Army. Until recently, Allen loved to take care of his vegetable garden, orange trees, and most importantly mow his lawn. On many days, he could be found in his boat, fishing for sacalait.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Vergie Huval Albarado, whom he adored; three daughters, Cathy Girouard of Lafayette, Ginger Comeaux and her husband, Larry Comeaux of Rayne, Judy Hardy and her husband, Randy Hardy of Carencro; and two sons, Dale Albarado and his wife, Brenda Albarado of Henderson, and Danny Albarado of Breaux Bridge; twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; one brother Dudley Albarado; one sister Mary Anne Hebert.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Felix Albarado and the former Zeolide Domingue of Scott; six brothers, Fred Albarado, Felix Albarado, Jr., Oran Albarado, Leonce Albarado, Stafford Albarado and Simon Dolar Albarado; three sisters, Eva Hebert, May Alice LeBlanc and Mary Eve Albarado.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Danny Albarado, Dale Albarado, Larry Comeaux, Jason Comeaux, Judd Hardy and Elmo Sonnier. Honorary pallbearers are Jody Albarado, Justin Albarado, Dusty Albarado, Randy Hardy, Joe Albarado, and Jeremy Broussard.

Our family would like to extend a special thank you to St. Joseph Hospice and their entire staff, his Hospice Nurses, Lanetta, Chanda, and Sarah, his Hospice LPN, Eshekia "Ykiki", and his Hospice CNA, Viola as well as Dr. Mickey, and his Nurse Lisa.

We would also like to express our sincere appreciation to our countless family and friends who provided meals, assistance with chores, errands and for your love, support, and prayers.
