1880 US Census, Worth County, says Moses' father was born in N.C. and his mother in S.C. His father was Solomon Barfield and his mother, Elvina and/or Elva Powell (dau of Nathan Powell and Charity Bird Powell. It is possible Moses was married twice. His first wife was Julia Ann Phillips (1855-1942). Together they had 2 children according to several US Fed. census records. They were: King Solomon Barfield (1870-1973)and James Henderson Barfield (1875-1954). One newspaper article gives Sol's birth year as 1865 instead of 1870.
