Margaret Roseann Jones Burk, 79, of 11 W. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, died Friday, Nov. 29, 1996, at her home.

Born Jan. 18, 1917, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Ruth Dusang Jones.

Her husband, James R. Burk, died in 1982.

She retired from the Hagerstown Police Department, where she was the first female police dispatcher. She was formerly employed in the cafeteria of Fairchild Industries.

She was a member of North American Rod and Gun Club Ladies' Auxiliary, and the Tenants' Association of Potomac Towers. She frequently entertained on the piano for many local functions, and was a member of Potomac Towers Senior Citizens Club.

She is survived by one daughter, Suzanne Lushbaugh of Hagerstown; one son, Lewis Burk of Milwaukee; two sisters, Alta Blalock of Hagerstown and Ruthmarie Fahrney of Harrisonburg, Va.; one brother, Andrew Jones of Hagerstown; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 226 W. Washington St., Hagerstown, with the Rev. George A. Limmer as celebrant. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
