Esther Chappell married Zerah Dowd in Sandisfield, MA. She was his second wife. They had seven children: Alanson born 27 May 1811; Esther born 15 Mar 1813; Fidelia born 9 Apr 1815; Emily born 10 Jul 1817; and Electa born 1820; Mary born 3 June 1822; and Sarah Jane born 22 Apr 1829. Zerah died 17 Jul 1834 and is buried in the West Otis Cemetery, Berkshire Co., MA. After her husband died, Esther moved with her daughter Fidelia and her husband to Lapeer County, MI.
