Samuel Chappell's burial in this cemetery has not been confirmed. His wife, Esther Rogers Chappell and two daughters are buried here so I put Samuel here. He probably died between 1860 and 1870. He is listed in the 1860 census with Samuel Chapel 40 (grandson?) and Saburnia (Clark) Chapel 40.

Samuel was the son of Samuel Chappel and Dorothy Laraby. His parents and his two brothers, Edgecomb and Enos, moved from New London, CT to Sandisfield, Berkshire, MA around 1780. The Chappels had eight more children in Sandisfield.

In 1800 Samuel Sr. deeded land he owned in Colebrook to his son Samuel Jr. Samuel Jr. probably married Esther Rogers around 1799. Two of their children, Honor and Eunice, died young and are buried in the Colebrook Cemetery. Samuel and Esther probably had at least three other children: Esther who married Isaac Downs; Mary who married Joseph Laird; and Giles who married Julia ??.(or Julia was another daughter.
