"A young man badly hurt by a kick from a horse
Frank Patterson, son of John Patterson, of near Keawood, was seriously injured on last Sunday by being kicked by a horse. ... He was taken to the house and Dr. McMillen, of Dixonville, was summoned. Upon his examination it was found that no bones were broken, but that the young man had received severe internal injuries. It is believed that he will recover."

"Frank Patterson, aged 56 years, of Strongstown, passed away at his home there Friday morning. Death was due to a stomach hemorrhage ... interment followed in the Diamondville cemetery."
