On Wednesday, January 4, 2012, Edward Theodore Jones Sr. departed this life to answer the Lord's call to come home and rest. He was born on December 12, 1925, in Galveston, Texas to Willie Jones and Henry Oma McGlothan Jones.

At an early age, he accepted Christ and became a member of Shiloh AME Church where served in the choir. He would later unite with Macedonia Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. T. J. Anderson and then Rev. A.W. Colbert. He and his wife relocated to Austin after Hurricane Ike in 2008, and they joined 19th Street Baptist Church under watch care with spiritual leader Pastor M.C. Walker.

Edward was educated in Galveston public schools and was a 1947 graduate of Central High School. Edward is a WWII veteran of the United States Army Air Corp. He retired from the City of Galveston Public Works Dept..

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Norman and Earl Jones; son, Edward Jones Jr., and daughter, Edna Mae Jones.

He leaves to cherish his memory a wife of fifty-two years, Lurline Jones; children, James "Poochie" Jones (Deborah) of Texas City, James McDaniel (Elizabeth) of Galveston, Elizabeth Armstrong (Morris), Eric Malveaux (Margaret) both of Texas City, Bonita Peebles (John) and Michelle Milburn (Troy) both of Austin; brothers, Sherman Jones(Mary), Ray B. Jones (Mary); 20 grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will begin at 10AM on Saturday, January 14, 2012, followed by a service celebrating his life at 12 Noon at Macedonia Baptist Church with Pastor A.W. Colbert officiating. Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 17th at 12:30PM in the Houston National Cemetery.
