On Saturday, August 27, 2016, Mrs. Lurline Roberts Jones, took her heavenly wings and answered the Lord’s call to come home and rest.
She was born on June 14, 1928 in San Augustine County, TX to Daniel Allen and Alice Roberts. She was the youngest daughter of twelve children born to this union.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-two years, Edward; her parents, and her siblings.
At an early age, Mrs. Lurline Jones accepted Christ and was baptized. She was active in Sunday school, Women’s Ministry and served as an Usher.
Mrs. Lurline Jones was educated in San Augustine public schools. She went on to Butler College in Tyler, TX where she completed her Teaching Certification. She would eventually move to Galveston, TX and get her LVN (Licensed Vocational Nursing) license. She worked in Public Health for several years and retired as a Private Duty Nurse.
Mrs. Lurline Jones leaves to cherish her memory, her children, James McDaniel, Sr., Elizabeth Armstrong, Eric Malveaux, Bonita Peebles and Michelle Milburn, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
There will be a Public Visitation Saturday, September 3, 2016 beginning at 11:00 AM followed by A Celebration of Her Life at 1:00 PM. Both services will be held at held at Greater Barbour’s Chapel Baptist Church 7420 FM 1765 Texas City, TX 77591.
Mrs. Jones will be buried along side her husband, Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Houston National Cemetery, Houston, TX. Memorials may be sent to Carnes Funeral Home 3100 Gulf Freeway Texas City, TX 7759
