Richard passed away on Jan. 3, 1998 in Marlton, NJ, while spending the holidays with his daughter and family. He was born in Long Point, IL on April 2, 1919. From 1937 to 1946 he served in the U. S. Army, and was stationed in the South Pacific for 2 ½ years with the 33rd Division. He met his wife, Alma, while stationed at Ft. Lewis before going overseas. After his discharge from the service, he settled in Tacoma and worked for both Rhodes Bros. and Peoples dept. stores for many years. He retired from Frederick and Nelson in Lakewood. Dick enjoyed traveling to many places; he loved to cook, and enjoyed his home and garden.
He is survived by [edited for privacy], 9 grandchildren, and 1 great granddaughter.

Family graveside services Saturday, 12:30 pm, Mt. View Memorial Park. Public memorial services Saturday, 2:00pm, United Church in University Place, 3912 Grandview Dr. W. Viewing Thursday (TODAY) and Friday, 9:00 am to 9:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church building fund. "We love you and will miss you. You shall forever be in our hearts." Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home.
