EMMA H. SANDY
Emma H. Sandy, 96, of Crestview Acres, 916 Ashworth Road in West Des Moines, died of a heart ailment Saturday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at West Des Moines United Methodist Church, with graveside services at 2 p.m. at Chariton Cemetery in Chariton.
Mrs. Sandy was born in Lucas County and had lived in West Des Moines for 54 years. She previously lived in Warren County, Indianola, Valeria, Mingo and Colfax. She retired in 1969 from Wesley Acres and had been a member of the Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Women's Circle, West Des Moines Women's Club and Polk County Federation of Women's Clubs.
Survivors include three daughters, Pauline Felch and Margaret Lewellyn, both of Mankato, Minn., and Betty Libby of Iowa City; two sisters, Selma Paine of Cedar Falls and Laura Jennison of Albia; a brother, Vic Peterson of Chariton; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at McLaren's Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to her church, Crestview Acres or the West Des Moines Women's Club Restoration Project.
