David Brown was the 6th child of Johan Jacob "Wagonmaker Brown and Elizabeth Goettgen Brown.
David married Sarah Elizabeth Roark, daughter of John Roark and mother is unknown. before 1785 in Rowan County, North Carolina.
David, purchased land from his father, Jacob Brown, in 1796. David and his family lived in Telford, Tennessee and remained there until 1822, when he sold his farm to a nephew, Stephen Brown, and moved to Little Chuckey Creek in Greene County, Tennessee. When he died his property was divided between his eight children.
