"Retired Farmer, Barber, Marshal, H. Myers Dies

Long time area farmer, barber and former Marengo night marshal Howard L. Myers died early Wednesday, Apr. 2, 1975 at Marengo Memorial hospital. He had been hospitalized about three weeks with heart failure.
Services were held at 10 am Saturday at First Presbyterian church where he had been a member more than 40 years. Officiating was the Rev. David Dugan with Mrs. John Daniels organist. Caring for flowers were Mrs. Keith Young and Mrs. Walter Schachtlie.
Pallbearers were grandsons Charles H., Anthony and Matthew Myers, grandsons-in-law Jerry Johnson, Douglas Young, and also Harold Swift. Interment was in Marengo cemetery.
Masonic services were held Friday night at Hoover-Valentine funeral home with Swift in charge.
Howard Levi Myers was born Nov. 28, 1894 in Omaha, Neb., son of Charles Albert and Olive Little Myers. As a child he moved with his family to Marengo where he received his education in Marengo schools.
Apr. 19, 1917 he married Helen Minnie Hunzelman at Marengo. They resided on the farm south of town, where his son Charles now lives, for 47 years until moving to the present residence at 497 West Washington. In addition to farming he had operated a dairy business, also worked as a barber and as night marshal.
He was a fifty year member and past master of Masonic lodge 145 AF and AM Marengo as well as Cedar Rapids Consistory.
Survivors include one son Charles E. Myers, Marengo; two daughters, Mrs. Michael (Arlene) Feiereisen, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Allen (Beth) Adreon, Marengo; one brother, Earl Myers, Marengo; five grandchildren, four great grandchildren."
