"Mrs. Myers, 75, Succombs After Long Illness
Funeral services for Mrs. Howard L. Myers, 75, were Monday at 1:30pm at at the First Presbyterian church. She died at Marengo Memorial hospital late Friday afternoon after being a patient at the University hospital, Iowa City, and Marengo since Aug. 25.
A Marengo area resident all her life Helen M. Myers was born June 3, 1895, the daughter of Charles M. and Elizabeth Burgy Hunzelman in Iowa county. She received her education in the rural Iowa county schools and Marengo public schools. On Apr. 9, 1917 she married Howard L. Myers at Marengo. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian church, Garden club and a 50 year member of the Eastern Star. She taught rural schools for four years and also was employed with the hot lunch school program for 11 years.
She is survived by her husband Howard, one son Charles Myers, Marengo; two daughters, Mrs. Michael (Arlene) Feiereisen, Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Allen (Beth) Adreon, Marengo, one sister Mrs. Art (Ethel) Pundt, Homestead, and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Dr. Harry Hunzelman, Dr. Ivan Hunzelman and Roy Hunzelman.
The Rev. David Dugan officiated at the service. Mrs. John Daniels was the organist and John Rohr soloist. Pallbearers were George W. Myers, Ernest Wilson, Leonard Haldy, Dick Guehrn, Orrin Ward and Wayne Lympus. Flowers were in charge of Mrs. A. G. Solbrig and Mrs. Ed Kinsey. Interment was in the Marengo cemetery. Hoover-Valentine funeral home was in charge."
