Burial: Marengo Cemetery. Military rites provided by Voiture 1305 40 & 8.
Arlene was born June 11, 1921, to Howard and Helen (Hunzelman) Myers in Marengo. Arlene was a farm girl and she walked in the fields with her father, milked cows, drove the tractor, made hay and cultivated corn while riding the cultivator. She was her father's right-hand man.
Arlene attended country schools for a time and then school in Marengo. She graduated from high school in 1942 and then joined the Waves. She was employed at Collins Radio and Wilson Foods during the war. Arlene also worked at Killian's for 15 years.
Arlene married Michael Feiereisen on July 8, 1945, at Sinclair Memorial Church in Cedar Rapids.
She is survived by her husband, Michael; a brother, Charles and wife Eva; a very dear sister-in-law, Helen Feiereisen ; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Arlene was a great cook, but her specialty was baking bread: white, cinnamon, whole wheat and biscuits. Her German-Bohemian rye was outstanding. Many people said numerous times that her rye bread was the best they had ever eaten.
She lived to please and to help all. (She lived and believed in the golden rule.) She will be surely missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Camp Courageous of Iowa or hospice."
