LORRAINE DOLORES WORRELL

God's word says, "Come unto me all who are weary and I will give you rest." Lorraine Dolores Worrell, 85, of Chariton, now rests in the hands of our Heavenly Father and joins her husband, Lloyd E. Worrell, mother, Ellen Roberts, father, Ora Roberts, sister, Erlene Thomas. She passed away Jan. 22, 2005 at the Lucas County Health Center. Lorraine was born July 2, 1919 and was raised in Chariton. She graduated from high school in 1937.

Lorraine was a skilled and talented lady. During WW II, she was a "Rosy the Riveter," building airplanes for the men overseas. She was the presidential secretary for a movie star agency called "Crossroads of the World" in Hollywood, Calif. She became close friends with many movie stars. (Zsa Zsa Gabor, Rock Hudson, Sammy Davis, Jr.) Lorraine was able to be a part of and greatly enjoyed a bowling league with Paul Newman, Rock Hudson and Steve McQueen. Rock Hudson told her she was the most beautiful red-head he's seen.

There were many more memories shared. She was an accountant/bookkeeper, homemaker, manager of a hotel, and refinished furniture.

Lorraine happily married Lloyd E. Worrell Sept. 18, 1973 and was married for 30 years. She was a loving mother to Lloyd's three daughters and one son.

She is survived by three daughters: Judy Haag and husband Harlan of Pomona, Calif., Sue Gerstner of Chariton and Sherry Johnson and husband Roy of Chariton; a son, Michael Worrell and wife Daynene of Chariton; two sisters, Bonnie Luke of Chariton and JoAnne Tyler and husband Glenn of Chariton.
