Joanne was born October 27, 1931 to Ora and Ellen Roberts in Chariton, Iowa. Joanne was one of four daughters born to the couple. She was raised alongside her sisters in Chariton and graduated from Chariton High School in 1949. Joanne continued her education at AIC Business College in Davenport, Iowa. In 1950, Joanne began working as the secretary in the engineer’s office at the Lucas County Courthouse.

On October 14, 1952, Joanne was united in marriage to Dale Gale. The couple was blessed with two daughters, Cristi and Cathy. Joanne loved her family and always put them first. She also had a great love for animals.

Joanne loved to travel and was able to travel all over the world. In 1987, after thirty-seven years of employment, Joanne retired from her job at the Lucas County Courthouse. Joanne and Dale were proud grandparents to three beautiful granddaughters: Jenna, Andrea, and Alissa. Joanne enjoyed spending time with all of her girls. Dale passed away in 1990.

On June 22, 1996, Joanne was united in marriage to Glen Tyler. Shortly after Glen’s passing in 2013, Joanne moved to Chariton Specialty Care. She was a very social person and enjoyed her time there. She was quick to make friends and was always involved in the activities. Joanne was good about staying in touch with family and friends; always sending cards for birthdays, anniversaries, and other celebrations.

Joanne always had a strong faith. She was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church in Chariton. Over the years, she taught many Sunday School and Bible School classes. On October 25, 2019, Joanne went home to be with the Lord.

Joanne will be greatly missed by her daughters, Cathy (Brad) Reece and Cristi Gale; granddaughters: Jenna (Joel) Beary, Andrea (Logan) McGee, and Alissa (Brad) Evans; great granddaughters, Ella Marie Beary and Olivia Grace McGee; 5 stepchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Joanne was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale Gale in 1990; husband, Glen Tyler in 2013; and siblings: Erlene (Francis) Thomas, Bonnie Luke, and Lorraine (Lloyd) Worrell.
