D P Peek, a former resident of Putnam county, died Wednesday at his home in Lubbock, Texas of heart failure.
He was the eldest son of the late Esquire Robert Peek of this city, born near Cookeville on September 23, 1859.
On April 12, 1883, he married Miss Mary Davis, the daughter of C J Davis.
Peyton Peek will long be remembered because of his sterling qualities as a man and school teacher, and because of his Christian influence as a church and Sunday School teacher here. He left here more than 30 years ago, but his influence lives on in the lives he touched by the work he did here.
Besides his wife, he leaves 5 daughters: Zona, Lula, Lillian and Edith of Texas, and Ruby of New York; and 3 sons, Claude, Paschal and Marvin of Texas.
He also leaves 3 sisters, Mrs S M H Taylor, Mrs A L Boatman and Mrs A C Crowley, all of Cookeville, Tn; and 3 brothers, Rev V Dillard Peek, Cleiburn, Tx; Burr Peek, Cookeville, Tn; R F Peek, Newaygo, Mi.
