Funeral services for Mrs. Ida M. Hagemann, a pioneer resident of the Holyoke area, were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at the Holyoke Baptist church, with Rev. Roland Reed officiating.

Interment was at Holyoke Memorial Park, with the Lewis Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Hagemann passed away last Wednesday afternoon, April 10, at the East Phillips County Hospital here. She was 88 years of age.

A daughter of Emmons and Harriett (Green) Ellis, Ida May Ellis was born October 19, 1874, in Fayette County, Iowa. She moved with her parents to Plainville, Kansas by covered wagon in 1886. They again moved by covered wagon in 1890, settling on a homestead 12 miles northwest of Holyoke.

Later, Mrs. Hagemann proved on her own homestead located at what is now the Mervyn Mattson farm about 12 miles north of town. She worked for 13 years at the Parker sheep ranch north of Holyoke.

On March 30, 1910, she was united in marriage to Ernest Hagemann. To this union four children were born, all of whom survive. Soon after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Hagemann built a new home on a farm five miles north and one mile west of Holyoke, residing there until moving to Holyoke in 1940. After Mr. Hagemann's death in 1946 Mrs. Hagemann made her home with two of her children, Ethel and Howard, in Holyoke.

Mrs. Hagemann had been a member of the Baptist church since young womanhood. She remained active until her final illness, busying herself with household tasks and her hobbies of crocheting and raising house plants. She greatly enjoyed traveling and during the past 10 years had made numerous trips with Ethel and Howard Hagemann, including trips to the West Coast, Great Lakes and Niagara Falls.

Survivors include four children, Harold G., Miss Ethel L. and Howard L. Hagemann, all of Holyoke, and Edith H. (Mrs. Leonard Gentry), Lakewood, Colorado; two stepsons, Clarence E. Hagemann, Loveland, and Carl M. Hagemann, Holyoke; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; other relatives; and many friends.
