Harriet Ellis, nee Green was born in Worchester, England, August 10, 1847 and died at her home in Holyoke on Saturday, 5 June of 1909. She came to the United States in 1847 with her parents who settled in Wisconsin and later, in 1869 moved to Iowa.
In 1872 she married Emmons D. Ellis who died a few months ago. In 1887 they moved to Kansas from which state three years later in 1890 they came to Phillips County, Colorado. To them were born 7 children of whom 4 survive their mother and 3, Effie, Willie and Worth have gone on before.
The family were among the early settlers in the county and she was highly thought of by many friends.
The funeral was conducted from the Baptist church on Monday June 7, Rev. J.T. Jenkins preaching the sermon and the body was laid in the town cemetery.
