ERNEST A. HAGEMANN DIED SUDDENLY

Ernest Hagemann died suddenly at his home Monday afternoon at the age of 69 years. His death was thought to be the result of chronic endocordetis, with which he had been afflicted for many years. He had been down town as usual Monday morning so his death came as a distinct shock to the entire community.

Funeral services are being held this (Thursday) afternoon in the Baptist Church.

LAST RITES FOR ERNEST HAGEMANN

The funeral of Ernest A. Hagemann was held in the First Baptist Church Thursday, at 2 o'clock with the Rev. P.H. Evans preaching the sermon. Mrs. G.P. McFadden sang, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," accompanied by Mrs. G.L. Blincow. Mrs. Lucille Kissinger and Mrs. Ruth McMurdy sang, "Abide With Me" and "Rock of Ages" accompanied by Mrs. P.S. Struble.

Ernest Adolph Hagemann, son of Johann and Hannah Hagemann, was born near York, Nebraska, March 31, 1876. At the age of 11 years he came to Julesburg, Colorado with his parents. A short time later the family homesteaded 12 miles northwest of what is now Holyoke, where Ernest grew to manhood. A few months after the family had located on their homestead the railroad came through, and the town of Holyoke was established.

He was christened in the Lutheran church in infancy.

Ernest Hagemann received his education in the public school at York, Nebraska and at a school near the family homestead. The latter school was held in one room of the parental home of Sophia Troutman, who was one of the teachers.

When a young man, Mr. Hagemann homesteaded in the Fairfield community. Later he moved to a farm six miles northwest of Holyoke, where together with his family he lived until about six years ago, when they moved to Holyoke.

On March 16, 1904, he was united in marriage to Miss Effie Maude Ellis. To this union were born two sons. On February 23, 1908, his wife died. On March 30, 1910, Mr. Hagemann was married to Miss Ida Mae Ellis, and to this union were born two sons and two daughters.

On Monday morning, February 25, Mr. Hagemann walked to town and back to his home. Following his noon meal he complained of a pain in his stomach and shortly afterward he suffered a heart attack, from which he died about 3:45 p.m. that day.

The deceased was 69 years, 10 months and 25 days of age at the time of his death.

He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, Ida; four sons, Clarence, Carl, Harold, and Howard; two daughters, Edith and Ethel; nine grandchildren; two brothers, John and Henry, all of Holyoke, together with many relatives and friends. He was an honorable citizen, a devoted husband, a loving father and a trusted friend.
