Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Sergeant in the Union Army. He was awarded the CMOH as a Private in Company B, 26th New York Infantry for action on December 13, 1862 at Fredericksburg, Virginia. His citation reads "Voluntarily seized the colors after several color bearers had been shot down and led the regiment in the charge."
