She was born May 12, 1909 in Duluth, Minn. the daughter of Miner and Ida Korlin)Beals. Gertrude married George Rude on May 28, 1936 at Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. She has been a member of the church for many years and has lived most of her life in Eau Claire.
Gertrude enjoyed camping, fishing, and other outdoor activities. Among her many activities were playing cards with the Lowes Creek card club, hiking and visiting friends and family.
Survivors include her son, John (Shirley) Rude, Eau Claire; her daughter Carole Johnson, Madison; her grandchildren, Fred Johnson and Eric Johnson, both of Eau Claire and Lissa Rude, Fall Creek; her sisters, Margaret Wendt, Eau Claire, Laura (Don) Devlin, Bend, Ore., Leona Whinnery, Eau Claire, Lois Waldock, St. Paul, Minn., Dorothy Easterson, Seattle, Wash., and Hazel Noelck, Cleveland, Tenn.,; She is further survived by many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband George; a sister Jessie Johnson, a brother, Marvin Beals, and a son-in-law, Frederick W. Johnson.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church, Eau Claire, with Pastor Rolf Nestingen officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Eau Claire. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Stokes and Mundt Funeral Chapel, Eau Claire and an hour before the services at church on Tuesday.
